Catastrophic Thinking & How our Thoughts shape our Life ?

Catastrophic thinking can be defined as thinking about irrational, worst-case outcomes. It can increase anxiety and prevent people from taking action in a situation where action is required. This can be especially true in a crisis situation. Catastrophic thinking needs to be managed, not discounted.

There is often much to be learned from these persistent negative thoughts that may relate to old beliefs and core values that may drive emotional reactions and generate fear. It usually starts with overthinking and trying to find all the possible scenarios, but as the negative ones are the ones that concern us the most we naturally focus more on them, going deeper and deeper how something can become worst and worst. Overthinking is exactly what it means, thinking too much. This habit prevents us from taking action. It consumes our energy, disables our ability to make decisions and just take the joy from our life completely unnecessary, as we never can imagine all the scenarios how something can go wrong - there are almost unlimited possibilities.


That is true in the other direction as well - how something can run in a good way. The both ways of thinking just take the present moment from us, every moment we live in one of our imaginary scenarios is one moment less we live in the present. And the present is where the life happens, where there are so much to be seen, heard, learnt, understood and lost if we don't. Yes, we need to be prepared for the outcomes of our actions and those of the others, to be ready to take the responsibility for our choices, but the best way to do it, is by building our mind and body stronger, learning more, becoming more aware of what is going around us and the possibilities for all that are just in the present moment.

Everything in the past or in the future is just a shadow of possibility but not a real one. When the time comes it might become real, but if we don't learn to live in the present, we will miss that moment being somewhere in other scenario, working out how the things might happen. Doesn't matter how much we strive, wait and work for our goal, at the moment when it becomes reality it will loss the value for us, we just don't live in the present so we can't enjoy it. It might sound sad and unfortunately is the way how so many people live, but is not that bad, the solution is there waiting for us, in any give moment during all our life. You just need to take the chance in one or another moment, take a deep breath, open your eyes, shut down the non stop thinking mechanism and just live this unique moment, enjoy the colours, hear the sounds, sense all the movements around.



If we really take any moment as unique, it is going to mean so much more to us, trying to live it in the best posible way. That's the best base to reach our goals, to make our dreams come true, to become the people we want to be. And yes, sometimes the things go not as we expect but we have to trust ourselves that we can get trough it and will find the way out, because there are always at least one.
